The Rev. Koshin Paley Ellison, a Zen Buddhist priest from the Village Zendo, trained at the
Chaplaincy Department at Beth Israel Medical Center. He is now offering Zen meditation to
patients, practitioners and the general public at the Center for Health and Healing.
In research studies and clinical practice, mindfulness meditation has been shown to decrease
pain perception and reduce symptoms of stress including depression, anger and anxiety.
Sessions are held on Thursdays from 12:15 to 1:00 and consist of 15 minutes of
instruction followed by a 30-minute meditation session. These will be held through
the month of July and will resume again in September. All are welcome.
