This paper reviews the efficacy of some common herbs used for their
anti-inflammatory or anti-arthritic properties. Available data suggests
that the extracts of most of these herbs may provide a safe and effective
adjunctive therapeutic approach for the treatment of osteoarthritis
and rheumatoid arthritis. Clinical trials are necessary to establish
the effectiveness and optimum dosage of these compounds for treating
human inflammatory and degenerative joint diseases. Herbs included in
this review are green tea, cat's claw, Hook F, turmeric and ginger.
